Perfecting Pest Control

If you don't like pests setting up shop in your home, you might be interested in hiring a professional exterminator to help you with your problems. However, unless you understand the tools that they are working with, you might find yourself wondering what else you can do to curb issues. For example, if you don't mention that mosquito problem, your exterminator might not know to treat that water feature with a pesticide that targets larvae. My site explains different ways you can prepare for your professional pest control treatment, so that you aren't left with issues later down the road.

Three Signs That Insects Are Roaming Free In Your Home

Blog

When it comes to pests, there are none that are quite as annoying or prevalent as insects. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of tiny little creepy crawlies that can survive for years in your home if you let them, which is why it is important to call for insect control as soon as you get the hint that they may be around. Sometimes this can take longer than you might think, especially if you are unfamiliar with insects in general. Here are three signs that you have insects running riot in your home right underneath your nose.

Corners Of Your Carpet

If you have carpet in your home, as so many people across the country do, then you should regularly check the corners and ends of it, where it meets the wall, so that you do not overlook the myriad of bugs that love to live in it. Carpet beetles are the most famous, but there are other types as well. So many people are so quick to look for bugs around food and in their kitchen which can leave lots of insects in your carpet, which is a great home for them, untouched for many months if not even longer, all the while they are destroying your flooring.

 Bad Smells

While a bad smell can come from anywhere, if you have already ensured that it cannot be from something you know about like leftover food or dirty clothes, then you should start to consider the possibility of insects. There are a few insects that can make rotten smells, especially as it is quite common for insects to love to reside in moist environments which keep their external shell cool. If you do have a persistent bad smell in your home, you should call for insect control to further investigate.

Leftover Hives And Nests

If you do stumble upon an empty hive, nest, spider web, or any other signs of insect life, then this is generally a good indicator that there are others in the area. Usually, insects do not just leave perfectly good homes unless there is a better spot nearby, and signs of life like this can implicate quite a large population. Insects are very good at remaining hidden, so if you do come across signs of a home or a colony, do not take it lightly and make sure you have a professional come out and take a look.
