Perfecting Pest Control

If you don't like pests setting up shop in your home, you might be interested in hiring a professional exterminator to help you with your problems. However, unless you understand the tools that they are working with, you might find yourself wondering what else you can do to curb issues. For example, if you don't mention that mosquito problem, your exterminator might not know to treat that water feature with a pesticide that targets larvae. My site explains different ways you can prepare for your professional pest control treatment, so that you aren't left with issues later down the road.

2 Kinds Of Mouse Traps An Exterminator Can Use

Blog

No one wants to have mice in their house. Mice like to be in your house because food is abundant, and there are a lot of nice, warm, safe places where they can nest. Even if you have dogs and cats, there are still fewer predators that the mice have to dodge. If you suspect that you have mice, then you need to talk to an exterminator so they can create a plan to get rid of the mice and keep them from coming back. One of the tools they might use when they are trying to get rid of the mice is traps. The exterminator has several traps they could choose from.

Live Traps

One option the exterminator has is to use a live trap. In this kind of trap, there is a bait station at one end, with a door at the other. The mice are attracted to the bait, walk into the trap, and are stuck there. Live traps also come in a variety of styles. One style is a box style that can hold more than one mouse at a time. In this kind of trap, the entry door may be open, but as the mice go through the trap, they go through a point that will keep them from coming back out. If you hear noises from the trap, you need to call the exterminator because they will take the trap and release the mice elsewhere.

Snap Traps

These traps are the traditional style of mouse trap. They are made of wood with a metal bar that is kept open under pressure and snaps shut when triggered. The bar is designed to break the mouse's neck. The mouse is attracted to the bait that gets placed on a pedal attracted to the trigger. When the mouse goes for the bait, they disturb the pedal, which trips the trigger, releasing the bar and trapping the mouse. One issue with these traps is that the mouse can steal the bait off the pedal if it is loose. Something sticky like peanut butter will stay on the pedal and make the mouse stay on the trap to try to get the bait. Some people don't like snap traps because they have to handle the dead mouse, but the traps can be thrown away since they are pretty inexpensive.

If you have mice, you don't want to keep them at your house longer than necessary. Call an exterminator to check out your home and make a plan to get rid of the mice. For more information on mouse pest control, contact a company like Best Pest Control Services.
